| A 20 week male fetus (one of dichorionic diamniotic twins) with a cloacal malformation. Loops of bowel can be seen protruding through the defect (arrow). No kidney is definitively identified in the renal fossa by either sonography or MRI. A stomach is seen (S). Fluid representing the collecting system of a pelvic kidney is visualized in the pelvis (arrowhead). | |||

| The same fetus at 33 weeks gestation. At this time, oligohydramnios was present, limiting the ultrasound exam. Fetal MRI demonstrated bowel and liver protruding through the defect. A a pelvic kidney was also identified. | |||
