This is one of diamniotic dichorionic twins with lobar holoprosencephaly. This fetus also had a cleft lip and palate, as well as hypotelorism. The other twin was normal.

  In this oblique axial plane, the sloping forehead (due to dysgenesis of the frontal lobe) causes the appearance of the orbits to mimic the protruding orbits seen in anencephaly. This fetus had multiple additional anomalies, including absent nose, hypotelorism, cerebellar hypoplasia, and cleft lip and palate.

A 26-week fetus with trisomy 13-associated holoprosencephaly. This fetus also had an omphalocele, cleft lip and palate, and Dandy-Walker variant.
